The Elmira High School football team achieved their first win of the season after a difficult 0-4 start in their Homecoming game on Oct. 4.

The final score of the game was 48-13, with touchdowns scored by sophomore quarterback Talon Jerabek, junior running back TyRay Chacon, and senior receiver Kyler Colwell, running back/tight end Keelan Hecker and fullback Logan Renasia.

One standout player from the win was Jerabek who completed 12 of 13 passes with 188 total yards, two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

“We’ve put in a lot of work in the past few weeks,” Jerabek told Falcon News. “We’re coming together as the season goes on and I feel that is demonstrated by our win.”

Coach Bo Highburger is happy to see the team finally get a win after all of their hard work.

“We really wanted to win and it was nice to see us put together four quarters of solid football to get the job done,” Highburger said.

At halftime, the Homecoming Court was honored with Senior Mele Tutura being crowned as Homecoming Royalty.

After the game, Tutura continued the lighting of the “E” tradition.

The Falcons have since claimed a second win against the Madras White Buffalos last Friday.

The Falcons will hold their senior night and final home game of the season against the La Pine Hawks this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
