Homecoming is right around the corner for Elmira High School, with spirit week kicking off on Monday and running until the end of the week.
Monday will be Twin Day, where students should dress up with a friend in the same outfit. Tuesday is Tacky Tourist Day, with attire such as Hawaiian shirts, straw hats, sunglasses and fanny packs.
Wednesday will be Pink Out and everyone is encouraged to wear all of the pink they have. Thursday is Western Day, which should see students dressed up in boots, cowboys hats and button up shirts.
Friday brings the spirit week to a close with Falcon Friday. All students should dress in their class color and all of their Falcon gear. Ninth-graders should wear black, sophomores gold, juniors purple, and the senior class has all three colors. This theme carries over into the night for the Homecoming football game.
Each grade level will also decorate their hallway to begin the week with a theme correlating to their class color. The ninth-graders chose Stranger Things, sophomores chose Gold Rush, the juniors chose Tangled and seniors selected Mardi Gras.
The Homecoming parade will be held on Oct. 4 and start sometime between 4 and 4:30. Each class will have floats decorated in their theme and color to participate in the parade. If a student is interested in being on their class float during the parade, they must see a Leadership member or Cody Brock to be put on a list.
The Homecoming football game will see the Falcons take on the Pleasant Hill Billies on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. The Falcons will aim to get their first home win of the season.
The Homecoming dance will be the following day on Oct. 5, running from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with the theme being “Masquerade.”
The Homecoming court will feature 3 seniors, 2 juniors, 2 sophomores and 2 ninth-graders voted on by their peers during Homeroom this Wednesday. The Homecoming royalty, a singular senior, will be voted on by the school on Oct. 2 during Homeroom.
All students elected to the Homecoming court will be given tickets to the dance. If they would like to bring a date, their date will be given the couples’ ticket discount.
Tickets can be purchased from bookkeeper Lori Haffner at the bookkeeper’s window before school, during lunch and after school until 3:45. All fees on the purchaser’s account must be paid before tickets will be sold. Tickets will not be available for purchase during classes, but exceptions may be made for students with open periods.
The ticket prices for singles are $12 with ASB sticker and $15 without. Couples ticket prices are $22 with ASB sticker and $28 without.
