Elmira High School’s varsity football suffered a tough defeat to South Umpqua, losing 7-42 at home Friday night.
As disappointed as they are, the Falcons are ready to get back to work.
“I’m just ready to hit, baby,” senior Zane Clemmer told Falcon News.
Senior Kyler Cowell was upset by the team’s performance in the game, but is optimistic about the rest of the season.
“There’s a lot of room for improvement,” the wide receiver said.
Junior Eben Dickenson had the only touchdown of the game and junior foreign exchange student Danis Smajic topped it off with an extra point kick.
Coach Bo Highburger wasn’t happy with the outcome of the game, but is excited for what’s to come with the future of his team.
“Our appetite for success as a team is pretty high,” the coach said, “so we’re looking forward to future opponents.”
The Falcons next game will be Friday at home against the Sisters Outlaws at 7:00 p.m. It will be the first league game of the season.
