Elmira High School held an election on Wednesday to decide the class representatives and Associated Student Body officers for the 2024-25 school year. Results were announced Monday morning.
Juniors Fern Valle and JT Myers were elected as ASB co-presidents. Historically, EHS Leadership would call for a president and vice president, but the two juniors decided they would rather split all duties of the positions evenly.
“This is such a thrilling opportunity that I am so excited to partake in,” Valle said. “Being able to be ASB co-president with JT … is just amazing and a great honor.”
The newly elected co-president is excited for Leadership projects next year.
“We have many ideas in mind, and I am hopeful that we will be able to complete them and bring great things to Elmira,” she said.
Additionally, sophomore Brett VanDamme was elected ASB treasurer.
That leaves the positions of secretary and publicity manager open for ASB next year.
The junior class has elected Mele Turtura and Garrett Summers to be their senior class president and vice president. The positions of treasurer and secretary remain open for next year.
The sophomore class elected Jake VanDamme to be their junior class president. This leaves the positions of junior vice president, treasurer and secretary open for next year.
Finally, the ninth-grade class elected Natalia Shoemaker to be president and Dixon Inman as vice president for the sophomore class next year. This leaves the positions of treasurer and secretary open.
