EHS Track and Field Team Gets Ready For Districts

The track and field team had their last whole team meet last Wednesday at Willamette High School, and with the regular season ending, district competitors have been locked in for the Falcons.

Districts this year will be held at Sisters High/Middle School, on Thursday and Friday.

The senior sprinters who qualified are Austyn Woolcott, Quinton Buckland, David Bay and Iris Forme.

Junior sprinters are Kainoa Harwood, Kyler Colwell, Kiara Tierce and Carter Lawrence.

Sophomore sprinters are Marvin Hambrick, Ava Greene, Hannah Yaskovic, Kharsin Vanhtha and Ezariyah Dupper.

Ninth-grader sprinters are Rainee Foltz, Petra Archer, Kadence Marvin, Jayson Heinrichs and Kylee young Villa.

“I feel like if we perform like we have this season we will got to state for the 4×100 meter and the 4×400 meter, I’m not as confident in the 400 meter but still think I can do well,” Senior Austyn Woolcott stated about his running events.

The long distance team consists of seniors Quinton Buckland, William Uphold, juniors Jude Carmen, Owen Booth, sophomore Jake VanDamme, Brett VanDamme and Hannah Yaskovic.

Sophomore Jake VanDamme who will be running the 3000 meter and 1500 meter said “I’m feeling good about all my events.”

The qualifying seniors throwers are Quinton Buckland, Lillian Ossowski, Maritza Espinoza.

Junior throwers Zane Clemmer, Jacob Bradley, Garrett Flores, Lindsey Cordell and Logan Renasia.

Sophomore throwers Marvin Hambrick and ninth-graders Penelope Cordon, Bryce Given and Kieran Waldecker.

“I’m feeling pretty good, if I get a good pr I should be on my way to state,” Junior Zane Clemmer talked about the shotput and discus.

The Jump squad athlete are senior David Bay, junior Garett Flores, Kyler Colwell, Kelana Dachri, sophomore Wyatt Frome, Marvin Hambrick, Brett VanDamme, Hannah Yaskovic, Rylee Rice, Kharsin Vanhtha, ninth-graders Bryce Given, Rainee Foltz and Kylee Young Villa.

Sophomore Rylee Rice who will be competing in the high jump said “I’m not going to choke like last year, and hopefully get 5’4.”

Both the boys and girls track teams are expected to dominate districts and have several athletes advance to state next week.
