Elmira High School’s National Honor Society has kicked off its annual Adopt-a-Family fundraising effort.
It’s an annual program to raise money, clothes and gifts for families in need. Recipients are families from all schools in the district.
“It’s important to support families in need in our community,” NHS advisor Michelle Nelson said.
Donations are being collected in EHS homerooms through Dec. 6. The homeroom that raises the most donations will receive treats of their choice.
The EHS Interact Club also has stepped up to help families in need with a clothing drive underway through Dec. 15. Clothing items should go in the designated class bins in the front lobby; cash should be given to homeroom teachers.
Each student of the winning class (ninth-graders, sophomores, juniors and seniors) will receive one free drink coupon that can be used at the coffee cart. The winning class will be announced after winter break.
Needed items include:
- Clothes (gloves, jackets, socks, hats)
- Personal hygiene products (deodorant, hand sanitizer, lotion, tissues, bandages, lip balm)
- Menstrual products
- Hand warmers
- Cash (Interact Club can purchase needed products)
