Last Friday, the Falcon football team traveled to Valley Catholic School and ended the night with a 42-13 victory, furthering solidifying their playoff hopes.
The Falcons finished the first half of the game hot, up 27-0.
Junior Keelan Hecker helped the Falcons with this big win, finishing the game with 144 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Kyron Smith had 150 total yards and one rushing touchdown. Senior quarterback Quinton Buckland also scored two touchdowns in the game.
Getting the win against Valley Catholic kept Elmira ranked 9th in state for 3A.
The Falcons’ first playoff game will be at North Valley High School in Grants Pass at 7 p.m. Friday. EHS is offering a rooter bus to take students to the game. The cost is $15, which includes admission to the game, and a permission slip is required. The bus will leave at 3 p.m. from EHS.
This marks the first time that the Falcon football team has made the playoffs since 2013, when they lost in the first round.
Junior Kyler Colwell said he is confident with how the Falcons will perform in their first playoff game.
“I’m happy with our team’s progress,” Colwell said, “but there is still room for improvement if we want to make a playoff run.”
