After four ties and two losses so far in their season, the Elmira High School boys soccer team earned their first win on Thursday, beating La Pine 2-0.
Senior Austyn Woolcott scored both goals for the Falcons.
Falcons head coach Karson Laing said he was proud of the players and their performance.
“All of our hard work in training and preseason is starting to finally show,” he said. “The boys are finding their stride as league starts. Hopefully we keep this momentum and positive energy moving forward into next week. The boys earned every bit of this win.”
The boys’ first league game was a loss against Siuslaw, 0-6. Senior Brendan Davis had 26 saves.
“Our boys worked hard, still working out some kinks in our game,” Laing said. “This is a good chance to see how we handle some adversity early on in the season.”
The Falcons had a draw against Santiam Christian on Tuesday with a final score of 1-1. Woolcott scored the goal for the Falcons.
“Their hard work and training is starting to pay off in games,” Laing said. “They have all the keys to success. Now we just need to keep building on our progress.”
The Falcons hit the road Tuesday for a game at 5 p.m. at Crosshill Christian/Jefferson. Their next home game is Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Central Linn.
