The Elmira football team traveled to Sisters High School last Friday to play their first league game.
The game was back and forth and it came down to a field goal, with the Falcons losing 25-22.
Senior Quinton Buckland finished the game with 133 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown. Junior Keelan Hecker had 76 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
Senior right tackle Brett Highburger said, “We had to play against the No. 1 team in the state. We did better than I thought. If we play them again, we could beat them.”
Coach Bo Highburger said, “It was a great game and I was extremely proud of the resilience our team showed as they fought until the very last second.”
The Falcons’ next game is this Friday at home against the Creswell Bulldogs. The start time is 7 p.m.
