The EHS Falcon Track team will compete in districts on Thursday and Friday at Siuslaw High School.
Many athletes are expected to win their events and advance to the state championship meet at Hayward Field on May 25 and 26.
“I’m easily making it to state,” said Isaiah Wilson, who will compete in 100m, 200m, 4x100m, and the 4x400m.
Boy athletes that qualified for district are Austyn Woolcott, Brett Highburger, David Bay, Isaiah Wilson, Jacob Janeczko, Jacob Bradley, Jake VanDamme, Jesus Coronado-Valle, Jude Carman, Jude Spencer, Kainoa Harwood, Kyler Colwell, Morgan Wondra, Patrick Lepik, Quinn Chambers, Quinton Buckland, Tanner Hunt, Tryston Rogers, Wayde Walton, William Walton, William Uphold, Wyatt Frome, and Zane Clemmer.
“I think I’m going to do pretty good,” said senior Jacob Janeczko, who competes in shotput and discus.
Girl athletes that qualified for districts are Alyssa Johnson, Anna Shannon, Ashlyn Turnbo, Ava Greene, Claudia Ochayta Moreno, Iris Frome, Kiara Tierce, Hannah Yaskovic, Larissa Borris, Libe Fernandez, Lillian Ossowski, Lindsey Cordell, Macaira Smith, Maritza Espinoza, Mele Turtura, and Rylee Rice.
“Hopefully I’ll do good,” senior Ashlyn Turnbo said about pole vault.
Falcon News gathered some input from coaches and athletes on how they felt they were going to do.
“I’m feeling good with javelin and discus,” said junior Lillian Ossowski, who will be competing in shotput, discus, and javelin.
Coach Emmy Erwin felt that the team is going to do really well. She said that the boys have a chance to win districts and the girls should be a dominant force as well.
Junior Iris Frome, who competes in 4x100m, 800m, 300m Hurdles, and the 4x400m, said “I think I’m going to do great.”
