Elmira senior Ashlyn Turnbo broke her school record in the pole vault on Saturday at the Jim Robinson Twilight Invitational Track and Field meet at Roseburg High School.
Many EHS athletes set personal records, and Turnbo and senior Tanner Hunt (high jump) finished among the top two in their events.
Turnbo set the school record last year with a vault of 9 feet 6 inches.
She increased her record to 10 feet over the summer and continues to break her record.
When asked how she felt about continuing to beat her own record, Turnbo said, “It’s nothing new.”
Turnbo she had been working to clear 10 feet 6 inches since she cleared 10 feet last summer.
Currently ranked second in the state, Turnbo hopes to increase her record to 11 feet by the end of the season and take first place at the state meet at Hayward Field.
