The Elmira Falcons hosted a track meet Wednesday for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic with Creswell, Glide, Pleasant Hill, La Pine, and Sutherlin all in attendance.
The Elmira Falcons boys team placed first with a score of 183.33 points and over a 70 point gap between the second place team, Creswell, who only finished with 110 points.
The girls team placed second, trailing Pleasant Hill by six.
Senior Isaiah Wilson won the 100m and 200m sprints.
Senior Jacob Janeczko got first in shot put and discus. Senior Tryston Rogers took first place in javelin.
The boys dominated the 4x100m with a team consisting of Kainoa Hardwood, Kyler Colwell, Tanner Hunt, and Isaiah Willson.
Senior Alyssa Johnson placed first in the 800m.
While running the 4x100m throwers relay, Jacob Janeczko was finishing up on the last 100m when he pulled his hamstring. Before the injury, it looked like the Falcons would pull off an easy win, but instead ended up finishing third.
The Falcons will be going to Roseburg Saturday to face off against 30 other teams.
Falcon News followed up with some of the athletes and coaches to hear about how they think the meet went.
