After returning to in-school learning since the 2020 pandemic, many students chose to stay in online programs. Many of these students have returned this school year. Falcon News asked those students why they chose that option.
Tayler Carney has been doing online school since sophomore year, but she recently came back for her senior year.
Question: How has the school changed since you were last here. Is it better or worse?
Answer: “It is worse, although Jesus is better.”
Q: Why did you transfer to Options?
A: “‘Cause I didn’t want to come to school.”
Q: Why did you decide to transfer back?
A: “Because Veronica begged me to come back.”
Q: Do you regret going to Options?
A: “No.”
Q: How much harder or easier is it back in school?
A: “Online was way easier. There was no homework or extra work.”
Q: What helped you in online compared to in school?
A: “Online school is easier. “
Q. Do you feel like you have missed out on high school experiences?
A: “No, I can do whatever I want.”
Q. If your friends didn’t beg you to come back, would you?
A: “No.”
Q. Do you feel caught up with everyone else who has been doing in-school learning?
A: “Yeah, I’m ahead of everyone else, I have 24 credits this year. I took English 3 and 4 last year.”
Ezra Collins recently transferred back to in-person, after being gone for a semester. Falcon News interviewed her about the experience between Options and being in school.
Q: Why did you transfer to Options?
A: “I failed Spanish so my parents made me switch.”
Q: Why did you decide to transfer back?
A: “My mom was sick of me being in the house and I needed to regain my social skills.”
Q: Do you regret going to Options?
A: “No, not at all because of the easy classes, easy credits.”
Q: How much harder or easier is it back in school?
A: “If you commit to it and you’re ahead then you don’t really have to do much work at all. School was a very short day for me.”
Q: What helped you in online compared to in school?
A: “My dad helped me with stuff I didn’t know.”
