Elmira Falcons basketball season is soon to begin.
Over the off-season, the Elmira school district dropped from a 4A down to a 3A district. The Falcons are now in the 3A-4 Mountain Valley Conference which includes Creswell, Harrisburg, La Pine, Pleasant Hill, Sisters, and Siuslaw High Schools.
Last season the Falcons had a very impressive and talented senior class. It will be hard adjusting to the loss of athletes for the boys and the girls basketball team. However, both teams have a lot of young talent and a great coaching staff to improve from last season.
The boys basketball team is led by second year coach Trevor Daniels. Coach Daniels graduated from EHS in 2010 and eventually went on to play D1 basketball at Oregon State University.
The JV team is instructed by Jamal Wilson and JV 2 by Kobe Bechtel, both Elmira alumni.
The girls varsity basketball team will be coached by Jeff Greene and assisted by Ashley Haag with Mike Murray.
The JV team will coached by Rich Jones, who also help out the JV football team in the off-season.
Elmira has nine home games this season with seven of them league games. Their season debut game is against the Sweet Home Huskies on Wednesday.
The boys JV 2 team plays at 4:30 p.m., JV is at 6 p.m. and varsity is at 7:30 p.m.
The girls JV 2 will play at 7:30 p.m., JV at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.
