On Thursday, the classes of EHS went up against each other in one final competition for Homecoming Week.
Class points came from spirit day participation, hallway decor, the clothing drive and the assembly.
At the assembly, the classes competed with performances. The ninth-grade class didn’t have an entry, but the sophomores performed a rendition of “Let It Go” from “Frozen,” and the juniors and seniors performed dances.
The juniors danced to “Space Jam” with the help of Gwen Scadlock as their choreographer.
“It feels good knowing we did better than the sophomores and freshmen. We didn’t really have any expectations to win, so we aren’t super disappointed. Next year we definitely plan to do way better,” Scadlock said.
The seniors went all out with a full Broadway-worthy performance, pulled together by choreographer and Homecoming queen Ashlyn Turnbo, performing several songs from Disney movies and sea shanties.
When asked if she was proud of the seniors’ performance, senior Gracie Storey said: “Yes, I was surprised we were able to pull it together. Rehearsals were very chaotic, and I’m glad we were able to bring back spirit dances this year.”
The classes also battled through a game of tug of war. The juniors lost to the ninth-graders, the sophomores lost to the seniors, and the seniors beat the ninth-graders and staff.
The ending results for the class competition had the seniors on top followed by the sophomores in second, the juniors in third and the ninth-graders in fourth.
