Want to help save lives and have some blood to spare?
Elmira High School, in coordination with the Red Cross, is hosting a community blood drive in the auxiliary gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Thursday, Oct. 13.
National Honor Society members are leading the effort to get donors signed up and will serve as volunteers during the event.
Donors age 16 or older also can schedule an appointment by clicking this link: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=ElmiraHS. Snacks will be provided, and each donor will receive a $5 e-gift card.
For more information, contact NHS advisor Michelle Nelson at mnelson@fernridge.k12.or.us, or talk with any NHS member.
Per Oregon Health Authority guidelines for health care facilities, masks will be required.
Anyone with blood type O, B negative or A negative is eligible to maximize their blood donation and help more people via making a Power Red donation. Red blood cells are the most commonly transfused blood component.
