Last Wednesday our Elmira volleyball team squared up against the Harrisburg Eagles. All three teams went home with a loss.
The varsity Falcons didn’t go down without a fight though. Throughout the three set battle, the girls had consistent serves, strong passes, and aggressive attacks.
The first varsity set ended 18-25. The second set ended 17-25 and the third ended 14-25. All three going to the Eagles.
The leaders for the night were seniors Gracie Storey (#9) and Rachel Mathews (#13), both middle blockers, ended the night with two blocks each. Sophomore outside hitter Jayden Breaux (#14) led the team in kills with six. Breaux and junior Lillian Ossowski (#1), a setter, both led the Falcons in aces with two each. Senior libero Ashlyn Turnbo (#3) and sophomore setter Josey Robbins led the team in dogs with twelve each. Ossowski also led the falcons in assists with nine.
“I think we played really well. We kept fighting till the last point, which I was proud of. But Harrisburg was able to take advantage of our weaknesses, which is unfortunate, it was definitely a learning opportunity. Overall I’m really proud of them and excited for the future,” head coach Tessa Slager said.
The next home game for the Elmira volleyball team is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the main gym. The Falcons will be facing off against the Creswell Bulldogs.
