With a brief intermission of about ten years, the curtains are set to rise again for EHS Drama Club when they present “The Internet is Distract– Oh Look A Kitten!” written by Ian McWethy. The play will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20th and 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21st.
It will take place in the EHS Auditorium with an admission fee of $7 for adults and $5 for EHS students or children. This will be one of the first full productions EHS has staged in over ten years after having put on a winter showcase earlier this year as a precursor to get out nervous jitters.
“The Internet is Distract– Oh Look A Kitten!” is a comedy about high school student Micah who needs to finish a paper on the novel The Great Gatsby in 45 minutes, but keeps getting sucked in by the vast distractions of the internet.
Junior Scarlett Walter, performing as lead character Micah, says “It doesn’t matter how big your part is – each person is responsible for making the play go smoothly. Everyone is working really hard, and I’m really excited to see how it turns out. I can’t tell you too much about it, but there are definitely going to be a few surprises.”
Senior Sage Carman, playing of the main characters, Taylor, says, he is “A little worried about my lines, but I suppose most people are with this kind of thing. The part I play is a role I’m still not entirely used to, but I’m looking forward to taking my own twist on it. I am looking forward to acting in this upcoming play, it should be fun!”
Other lead roles include Gracie Storey playing Mom and Facebook, Araya Price playing Wikipedia, Hulu, and Nina Benson, Keesha Baldree as Google, Clyde Oglesby performing many roles including TikTok, Netflix, and Russian Nina, with Quinn Metzger as Email and Adam, and Shark Zhao as Amazon Prime Video, Corban, and the Dark Web.
