The Elmira/Crow wrestling team competed very well at the North Douglas Holiday Classic on Dec. 18. Both the girls and boys finished second overall in both tournaments.
Individually for the girls, Katarina Jentzsch placed first, senior Liberty Barklow and sophomore June Highburger finished second, and sophomore Summer Mckeen placed third. For the boys, sophomore Colton Barklow, junior Enrico Cervantez, senior Ian Drago and senior Ruben Fox all placed first; junior William Walton, sophomore Brett Highburger and junior Luke Wolgamott placed second; senior Seth Drago finished third; and Zane Clemmer and Noah Sawyer both placed fourth.
“Another solid day for the Elmira Falcon and Crow Cougar wrestlers. We finished second as a team in both tournaments today, but we went down with a fight,” head coach Justin Peeler said. “I am very proud of our wrestlers today. They all wrestled hard and continue to get better each meet. As a coach, it is great to see them coming together as a solid team. Great job today for all of our wrestlers!”
The Falcons and Cougars have had a strong season and continue to work hard. They are scheduled to compete again this Saturday, Jan. 8, at Pleasant Hill’s King of the Hill tournament. The matches are set to get underway at 10 a.m.
