The Elmira High School girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Sweet Home on Wednesday to play against the Huskies, marking their first non-league game of the season.
The Falcons’ boys varsity team lost 26-44, junior varsity lost 22-23 and JV2 won big. The varsity girls lost 15-39, and the JV girls pulled out a win.
In the boys varsity game, junior Braiden Hansen was the lead scorer with six points, and senior Troy Anderson stood out with 10 rebounds.
“We played hard on defense and we moved the ball well, but our shots didn’t fall. It was our first game, and this team has a lot of potential,” boys varsity assistant coach Paul Ossowski said.
The girls and boys teams will play again Friday against Pleasant Hill in their first home game. The boys varsity game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m., JV boys at 4:15 p.m. and JV2 at 5:45 p.m. The girls varsity game will start at 5:45 p.m. and the JV girls at 4:15 p.m.
