Elmira High School junior Alyssa Johnson competed last Saturday in the OSAA 4A State Championships at Lane Community College, finishing 17th.
“It felt surreal to be competing in the state meet this year. It felt like my hard work was finally paying off,” Johnson said.
Johnson plans to continue to run for Elmira’s cross-country team next year.
“Next year I hope to go back to state and achieve a PR,” Johnson said.
The state meet ends OSAA’s 2021 fall cross-country season. Elmira had a great season and ended it on a good note with Johnson’s appearance at state.
