The Elmira Falcons’ JV and varsity volleyball teams traveled to Marshfield on Wednesday to face off with the Pirates.
JV suffered a loss after battling out three sets with the Pirates.
“I feel like it was a very good learning experience,” JV coach DesiRae Wright-Rendon said. “It helped us notice some things to work on, because not every game is perfect.”
After three intense sets, the varsity team also lost, 8-25, 10-25 and 19-25.
Ninth-grader Jayden Breaux , #15, led the varsity team in digs with five. Senior Kassidy Roe, #10, led the team in kills with three. Juniors Rachel Matthews, #5, and Gracie Storey, #9, and senior Jessica Janeczko, #8, led in blocks, with one each. Sophomore Lillian Ossowski, #1, and Breaux led the team in aces with one each.
“The third set went good. We played as a team, we hustled, and everyone played well,” varsity head coach Greg Haffner said.
Support the volleyball team at the next home game, scheduled for Tuesday against Marist. The JV match starts at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:45 p.m.
