Get ready for the biggest football game of the season as the Elmira Falcons face off at home against the Santiam Christian School Eagles. Kickoff for the Homecoming game is set for 7 p.m. this Friday.
Wear your purple and gold like you mean it! Following Homecoming tradition, there will be the lighting of the Elmira E at halftime, and the Homecoming royalty will be honored, including the crowning of this year’s queen.
After the Falcons’ non-league win against Phoenix, 36-30, the team is looking to keep its luck going.
“I am excited,” head coach Justin Peeler said. “It has been so long since we have done a Homecoming game. I really hope we fill the stands and have a lot of people there. That really motivates the players more.”
Peeler said he believes his team is ready to play.
“They are wanting a big win at home,” he said. “The last home game was great. We had a lot of people there, and the players said it was amazing. I really liked the student section cheering for us. I am hoping for a bigger crowd. Let’s pack the stands!”
The players, too, are confident about the upcoming game.
“I feel like we are going to win. We are going to play a great game, and I am excited,” #8 Quinton Buckland said.
“I feel pretty confident, but it’s gonna take a lot of work this week in practice,” #25 Donovan Hartley said. “We’ve just got to do our job and trust our teammates that they’re gonna do theirs. We are all pretty excited about the Homecoming game and to see what it turns out like. Hopefully we can get a lot of fans to hype up the crowd and make it a difficult time for the opponents.”
We hope to see you there, fellow Falcons!
