The University of Oregon Ducks put up an impressive first season in the Big Ten Conference, finishing 12-0 for the first time since 2010.

The Ducks moved on to the Big Ten Championship in Indiana to face the Pennsylvania Nittany Lions on Dec. 7, pulling out an impressive 45-37 victory.

“I think it was a near perfect season, and they look the best that they ever have,” senior Allison Payne said. “I’m confident for the playoffs and hope to see the Ducks take home the National Championship.”

Impressive talent is spread across the whole team, leading the Ducks to their impressive record. It starts with star quarterback and Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel, and is backed up by wide receiver Tez Johnson, running back Jordan James, and their 9th ranked scoring defense.

The highlight game of the Ducks’ season was their victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes, winning 32-31 at home. The Ducks now go on to face the Buckeyes again in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 in Pasadena, California after receiving a bye week.

UO alumnus and die-hard fan Tessa Slager shared her thoughts with Falcon News.

“I’m super excited and am hoping for a 16-0 season,” Slager said. “The Ducks look super confident and well focused this year.”

The Ducks aren’t Oregon State alumnus and Beaver fan Rob Lee’s first choice to win the National Championship this year.

“I’m hoping to see the Penn State Nittany Lions take home the National Championship this year,” he told Falcon News. “But I wouldn’t mind seeing the Ducks get second.”

The Oregon Ducks have shown an impressive season so far, but the playoffs always prove to be a different kind of challenge.
