Photo Gallery: EHS Gets Hyped for Homecoming Football Game

Elmira High School showed their support for the football team on Oct. 4 with a spirit assembly and parade of Falcons in anticipation for the Homecoming game that night.

The assembly kicked off by commemorating school groups, including Fall sports teams, National Honor Society, Band, Journalism, Leadership, Cheer and Drama. The spirit really got going when the Falcon football team stormed through the team banner and ran the first play they had planned for the game.

Class competitions began through the loudest class challenge and various games. The seniors dominated, being the loudest and proudest in school cheers, the quickest in the ball collecting game, and the strongest in tug-of-war.

Musical chair chaos then ensued, with senior Owen Booth coming out on top — or rather bottom — and giving the seniors a clean sweep of the assembly competitions.

“It was surreal,” Booth said. “I have lost twice before so it felt good to win, especially for the seniors.”

Following school on Oct. 4, staff, class, school and sports team floats hit the streets of Veneta to share their Falcon pride with the community.

On Oct. 7, it was announced that the seniors took home the most spirited class trophy, finishing with 32 points.
