The Falcon cross country team left for Cascade High School early Saturday morning for the Darrel Deedon Invite, the first 5K race of the season.
The runners found success, with senior and former 3A state runner Jude Carman earning first place with a time of 17:44.31. While not a personal record, the senior was still able to lead the pack by about 32 seconds.
Second year runner and junior Jake Van Damme achieved third place with a personal record of 18:19.78.
Sophomore Thaddius Mason ran a 20:55.34, junior Hannah Yaskovic finished with a 26:16.87 and senior JT Myers finished in 28:54.29.
The rest of the Falcon runners competed in the 3K race.
Ninth-grader Ezra Carman finished top 10 with a time of 12:35.74.
Junior Stephen Lyle finished in 18:00.57, ninth-grader Ray Wise with a time of 20:10.20 and senior Awbrey Flowers finished in 22:24.94.
The Falcon runners go on to host their home meet, the Country Fair Classic, on Wednesday. Races begin at 4 p.m. for all JV runners, followed by varsity girls at 4:45 and varsity boys at 5:30.
