Elmira High School students who attended prom elected seniors David Bay and Lillian Ossowski to be king and queen.
Students arrived at the Ford Alumni Center at the University of Oregon on Saturday night for EHS’ annual prom.
Upon arrival, students selected among senior princes Bay, Ethan Bennett and Braxton Christofferson for prom king. The vote for prom queen was among senior princesses Ossowski, Shyanne Foust and Maritza Espinoza.
All senior royalty members were honored before the king and queen were announced. Evan Booth and Kiara Tierce were also honored as junior prince and princess.
EHS Leadership provided the opportunity for royalty to pick a walking and dancing partner.
When the king and queen were announced, they were given the first slow dance of the night. Bay chose to dance with junior Lea Baldree and Ossowski with junior Garrett Summers.
Bay said being elected prom king was a moment to remember.
“It was unexpected, amazing,” Bay told Falcon News. “I thought [prom] was great. It was fun. Me and my friends really enjoyed it.”
Ossowski she she was surprised that she was elected as prom queen.
“It was kind of a little honor, everyone recognizing me,” she said, “and feeling like a big part of the school.”
The prom queen was delighted to have the experience.
“It definitely added to the experience of my senior year,” Ossowksi said with a laugh. “With it happening the same week I qualified for State, it is just like another happy event that happened in high school.
“I have a little crown to remember it, which is kind of cool.”
