The Elmira High School Leadership class is looking for new members with school spirit to join next year’s student council.
Applications can be found in the office and are still open and all students are encouraged to apply. Completed applications should be turned in to leadership advisor Ashley Haag in the Study Hall room.
Students have the option to sign up for a semester or the full year for this class.
The student council plans and hosts many school events, such as homecoming, prom, spirit days/weeks, sports assemblies and more.
This coming year there will be class officers to help lead each class. The face of each class will be the class president and vice president. There will also be an Associated Student Body president and vice president to represent the school.
Leadership is a class where students have to take charge and lead the class. This class is for those who want to lead the school and foster school spirit. Members will be representing the school and its students.
Haag focuses the class towards making the school better for all.
“Leadership is an opportunity to take control and be a voice for the student body. If they want to see changes, they would come to leadership to try and make those changes happen,” Haag told Falcon News.
“We are a group of students who work hard to make high school fun, and to make it a better student experience for all 4 years of being here. That is the sole purpose of having Leadership — to be the student voice.”
Leadership’s long term goal is to bring back school spirit for years to come and they are interested in all students who share a passion for the betterment of the school.
