Elmira High School Principal Cydney Vandercar, who was hired on an interim basis for this school year, recently was named permanently to the position.
Vandercar initially had a one-year contract, with Vice Principal Joel Smith taking over for the 2024-25 school year.
Smith and his wife are expecting a baby in March, so it was decided that Vandercar’s contract would change to keep her as principal on a permanent basis.
“Love it here, love it here!” Vandercar told Falcon News. ”I love how the community, students, teachers, everybody works together. This is a great place to be.”
